Composer and improviser
Eira has studied composition at The Norwegian Academy of Music with Rolf Wallin, Bente Leiknes Thorsen and Rune Rebne. She has also followed subjects with Eivind Buene, Asbjørn Schaathun and several visiting professors such as Marco Stroppa, Lisa Streich and more. Studying piano in her childhood Eira immediately started composing small piano pieces. At high school she composed a musical with chamber orchestra. Eira wrote the opera "Scenes from a Beehive" for her exam at The Norwegian Opera Academy. Besides composing, she works with improvisation; in contemporary music and with jazz musicians. She has also studied sources on how Mozart wrote cadenzas and ornamentations for certain singers he worked with.
